The International Storytelling Center produces the annual National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, TN. Founded in 1975 as the National Storytelling Association, the center's year-round work supports the power of storytelling and ways it can help to build a better world.

The National Storytelling Network brings together and nurtures individuals and organizations that use the power of storytelling in all its forms. It produces an annual conference; publishes a bimonthly magazine, annual directory, books and CDs; funds grants; provides advocacy ideas and much more. Special interest groups (SIGs) bring together people with common interests, such as youth storytelling, event organizers, storytelling in organizations, and others.

Digital Storytelling is a fantastic resource for this multimedia art form. The site includes links to web sites, educational programs, software tools, online examples, corporate storytelling, and digital photography.

Caldecott Medal Winners is a list of the winners of this book award, 1938-Present.

Carol Hurst's Children's Literature Site - Reviews and teaching ideas for kids' books is a large and highly helpful site.Reviews of books and information on topics concerning educators and storytellers. Lists books conveniently by title, author, type and grade level, and includes subjects such as Quests, Mythology (Greek and Roman), Mysteries, Bullies, Fools and Tricksters.

Children's Literature - Best Books Lists is a long list of links pages from other sites, all listing recommended children's literature.

National Public Radio’s Story Corps Project is a national oral history project, recording the personal stories of everyday Americans.

Story-Lovers SOS: Searching Out Stories is an infinitely valuable story bones collection. If you need just the right tale for just the right occasion, Jackie Baldwin makes it possible. She collects and categorizes stories by subject, by audience characteristics, or by story type. (She also makes delightful gifts!)

Creative Proverbs from Around the World permits you to search 12,000 proverbs from 300 countries and cultures, or browse 1,500 proverbs from 100 countries and cultures. How many ways can you convey the idea that "A stitch in time saves nine"?

The Story Connection is a fabulous site - for teachers and parents, with online resources, book recommendations, activities for children, and a monthly newsletter packed with announcements and opportunities - and for professional storytellers looking for tips on managing their businesses and careers.

Story Arts Online is a gold mine for teachers! Heather Forest suggests lesson plans and activities, gives you the names and bones of stories for students to practice, recommends books, provides online articles, and generously offers other great ideas for storytelling in the classroom.

Storyteller.net is an electronic magazine maintained by Arizona storyteller K. Sean Buvala. You'll find articles, checklists, audio files, advice, stories, book reviews, and other information. You can also subscribe to the siteand post a web page for yourself online.

STORYTELL is an international email discussion list about storytelling. Everyone interested in storytelling is invited to participate: professional and amateur storytellers, people concerned with the history of storytelling, people who enjoy listening to stories, and those who speculate about the place of storytelling in the 21st century. This international list has more than 500 subscribers worldwide and generates 40 to 80 email messages each day. Visit the STORYTELL Web site for information about the list and how to subscribe.

The Storytelling Ring is a "ring" of Web sites that feature storytelling resources, organizations, events, and the tellers themselves. You can travel the "ring" to visit one site after another, eventually ending back where youstarted. A fun way to visit neighbors in our global community!

Western Washington University instructor Rosemary Scott Vohs maintains a stunning online resource about Pacific Northwest resources and events. You'll be amazed at the list of meetings, classes,festivals and links! Wow, Rosemary! You go, girl!

Young Audiences of Oregon and SW Washington is an arts-in-education organization supporting teachers and artists. It puts artists (that includes storytellers!) in the schools, sponsors professional development workshops for artists and teachers, and supports other programs that bring together the arts and young people.
