| Foster Nuffer grew
up on a 100 acre farm listening to stories about a 100 acre wood. On
the farm Foster gained first hand knowledge of animals and how to take
care of them, how to work the land and what it is like to walk through
dark woods alone. This understanding is woven into his telling of folk
tales - his favorite venue. He likes tales form around the world and
researches hard to make sure he understands the full setting of the
story before telling it to others. Foster also likes healing tales,
especially tales that take the listener inside to see what
possibilities await them there. He is not above a fun scary tale and
weaves humor in even the most serious tale with his "Jack Benny" like
timing. Foster love's stories for the unconscious messages they send. He knows that it is often only after many tellings of a story that its meaning will present itself and that the meaning gained is a personal one. He has shared stories in grade and middle school classrooms, church classrooms, church meetings, Toastmasters events, Portland Storytellers Guild story swaps and story gatherings, but best of all - his daughters' bedside. Foster is a story teller for fun. "Someday I might try to earn a living telling stories," he says, "but for now the reward is in sharing the story and learning what the story has to teach me." Feel free to contact Foster for his availability. What would you like to learn today? |
